The Israeli Executive and the United States envoy for Syria, Tom Barrack, have maintained a strong disagreement regarding the status of the Golan Heights. Barrack has accused Israel of committing a violation of international law with the occupation of this territory, a stance that, according to the Israeli Foreign Ministry, clashes directly with the official recognition granted by Washington of Israel's sovereignty over the area.

During a conversation with political influencer Mario Nawfal, Barrack, who also serves as the United States ambassador to Turkey, stated that "Israel continues to occupy the Golan Heights against UN resolutions and the entire international order, which understands that the Golan Heights are Syrian."

In response, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz lashed out at the words of the American envoy, asserting that his comments "are full of inaccuracies and contradict Trump's own position on the Golan Heights."

It is worth remembering that Trump, in his first term in 2019, signed the recognition by the United States of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights. The Syrian Government, then under the leadership of President Bashar al Assad, flatly rejected Washington's decision, which it described as a "flagrant attack" against Syrian sovereignty and territorial integrity.
