The Government of the United States has urged its nationals this Tuesday to carefully assess any planned travel to Saudi Arabia, given the danger to their safety arising from the war conflict in Yemen.
For several days now, the international coalition led by Saudi Arabia has been maintaining an offensive against positions of the Houthi insurgency in Yemen, while they respond with strong attacks against Saudi infrastructures, particularly against their oil refineries and airports.
In this context, an attack by the Houthis against the international airport in Riyadh caused a dozen fatalities and more than 300 injuries last Saturday.
In light of the escalation of violence, the United States Embassy in Saudi Arabia has requested its citizens to "reconsider their travel to Saudi Arabia due to the risk of drone and missile attacks against U.S. interests by Iran and the Houthis, backed by Iran)."
Likewise, the U.S. diplomatic mission explicitly advises its nationals to avoid any travel to the border area with Yemen "due to the risk of terrorism."
