The co-coordinator of Movimiento Sumar, Verónica Martínez Barbero, urged this Tuesday Podemos to hold a meeting with Frente Amplio as "the first step to reach an agreement" ahead of the general elections on November 29.

"This is very simple, if you want to put your position on the table and reach an agreement, what you have to do is meet," the Sumar leader pointed out in an interview on La Sexta reported by Europa Press.

In this context, Barbero emphasized that ERC has expressed "clearly that no" and demanded that both those who reject the pact and those who "do not take the necessary steps" provide public explanations. "We spend 25 out of 24 hours a day meeting, and I am talking about all the organizations that are in Frente Amplio and all those that are negotiating," she stressed.

The co-coordinator of Movimiento Sumar detailed that they have worked "all weekend" in different meetings to "close all aspects that involve a stable alliance." "We seek not to be discussing within three months in an electoral process and within four in another electoral process," she added.

At the same time, she emphasized that Sumar "would never prioritize its initials or its seats over the interests of the social majority," which, in her opinion, "depends on the left coming together."

This Tuesday, Frente Amplio made it public that Emilio Delgado will head the list for Madrid for the 29N, after it was agreed on Monday that Ada Colau, former mayor of Barcelona, will be the candidate for the presidency of the Government.

At the same time, this weekend the spokesperson for Esquerra Republicana, Gabriel Rufián, confirmed that he will run again in the elections under the initials of ERC, thus ruling out the option of leading Frente Amplio.

In addition, Podemos announced this Monday a pact with the republicans to jointly run in Catalonia and for Rufián to collaborate with Irene Montero --the purple party's candidate on the 29N-- across the rest of the country during the campaign.

The deadline to register candidacies and finalize an agreement for the general elections ends this Friday.
