The second edition of the Cantabria Agro-food Products Fair will take place this Friday and Saturday in the Sansís parking lot in Ajo, where local producers from different points of the autonomous community gather.
The Minister of Rural Development, Livestock, Fishing, and Food, María Jesús Susinos; the mayor of Bareyo, Pedro Prieto; and the councilor for Education and Sports and president of the Local Board of Güemes, Begoña de la Fuente, have traveled to the venue to learn firsthand about the exhibition.
During her visit, Susinos highlighted the "excellent" work carried out by livestock farmers, farmers, and food processors in bringing high-quality products to market that reflect the identity and know-how of Cantabria.
The head of Rural Development emphasized that initiatives like this allow for showcasing the potential of the Cantabrian primary sector, boost the sale of local products, and contribute to revitalizing the economy of rural towns.
Additionally, she stressed the "growing interest" of consumers in choosing local foods, made with quality and sustainability criteria, reiterating the commitment of the Government of Cantabria to the development of regional agro-food productions.
The mayor, for his part, underscored the relevance of these fairs that showcase local products, such as peppers and other vegetables, tomatoes, or blueberries from Campoberrri. He also emphasized that they are a tool to support Cantabrian producers and to keep folklore and traditional culture alive.
Musical performances and tradition
The fair, which offers a wide display of agro-food products, also reserves a prominent space for traditional music, combining economic promotion with the preservation of customs and popular Cantabrian culture.
This Saturday, at 1:30 PM, there will be a parade with the Bagpipers 'Al Tresboliyu' through the streets of Ajo, and at 7:00 PM, the pandereteras of 'La Cierna' will perform. The concert by 'Tente Nublo', scheduled for 8:00 PM, will put the finishing touch on the second edition of the Fair.
