The counselor of Interior, Public Function and Justice of the Government of Navarra, Inma Jurío, has pointed out in the regional Parliament that "dysfunctions have been observed" in the use of the unique emergency platform, the system that centralizes calls directed to the different police forces at 112. Nevertheless, she emphasized that these incidents "do not affect emergency attention."
During her speech in the plenary session, in response to a question posed by Vox, Jurío explained that "what we intend is for the service to the citizens to be as effective and efficient as possible," and defended that "we are achieving this through this unique emergency platform." She detailed that the choice of the police force that responds to each alert is made "taking into account their geopositioning and based on criteria of proximity and territorial competence," adding that "an equitable distribution of calls is occurring."
The head of Interior admitted that the new model may generate "suspicions among the different police forces" and "union claims that are now recurrent, both from unions of the different police forces and from the workers themselves in Navarra."
At the same time, she defended the need to "educate" to remind the population that "both 112 and 091 or 062 are numbers exclusively for police emergencies," referring to complaints about the use of these lines for issues that do not constitute a real urgency.
Jurío stressed that the fundamental objective of the platform is "to provide the best attention to the Navarra citizens when they have a police emergency" in "a situation so sensitive that it does not matter which body" intervenes. She also emphasized that it is an "auditable" system and informed that the coordination commission of the different police forces has been convened to present "the dysfunctions that each one observes are occurring." "Because it is through dialogue and not political confrontation that the problems for the citizens in Navarra are best resolved," she concluded.
From Vox, the parliamentarian Emilio Jiménez has emphasized that the implementation of the unique platform "has changed the model of police coordination in Navarra" and has caused "many doubts." He has stated that his party wants all bodies to act in coordination and that "the body that can provide the fastest response" should attend, emphasizing that "this should not be an ideological issue." In his opinion, "instead of achieving that all bodies are more coordinated, they are more confronted," for which he has demanded from Jurío "less propaganda and more transparency" regarding the emergency referral protocol among the different police bodies.
