The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, pointed out this Saturday, before starting an official tour of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, that he intends to reinforce the "vision" of his country regarding security and connectivity to move towards a "terrorism-free" region during the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) summit.
With the intention of strengthening strategic ties in Central Asia and consolidating the "Indian vision" within the SCO, focused on security, connectivity, and economic opportunities, Modi emphasized that he will promote the "shared quest for peace, stability, and prosperity that constitutes the foundation of India's relationship with the world."
"I wish to promote our vision for the region and work with the other members for a territory free from the scourge of terrorism, separatism, and extremism, which continue to threaten peace and stability," the leader stated in his departure statement prior to the start of his three-day trip.
In the first stop of the tour, Modi will make a state visit to Tashkent, invited by the Uzbek president, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, with the purpose of consolidating bilateral cooperation in areas such as trade, investment, energy, and defense. Afterwards, the Indian head of government will travel to Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) to hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of the SCO.
"India has been an active and constructive member of the SCO since 2017. I hope to be able to promote India's vision for the region," he indicated.
According to information provided by the authorities and collected by the Indian channel NDTV, the Prime Minister will participate in the SCO summit, where he will present his country's priorities in security, connectivity, and opportunities. In addition, Modi will hold bilateral meetings with the SCO leaders on the sidelines of the main meeting.
