Around 300 protesters have gathered this Saturday starting at 6:00 PM in the Sant Jaume square of Barcelona to defend values of social cohesion and antifascism, and to show their rejection of the 'Save Europe Act' movement, which is scheduled to concentrate in the same place from 7:00 PM in support of a "mass remigration."
After 6:00 PM, the Mossos d'Esquadra have divided the square with a line of vans and agents, with the aim of keeping the two groups separate and preventing them from mixing before the arrival of those summoned by 'Save Europe Act.'
At 7:00 PM, the activists of 'Save Europe Act' had still not arrived in the square.
DAVID MINOVES: COHESION AND ANTIFASCISM
The president of Ciemen and spokesperson for Unitat Contra el Feixisme i el Racisme, David Minoves, has explained to the media that a far-right call represents "hate crime" and has reproached public institutions for their "inaction" to prevent it.
"In the face of the inaction of institutions, we have no choice but to come and occupy this space with our bodies," he stated, emphasizing that the mobilization defends principles of cohesion and antifascism.
Among the slogans heard during the protest are "There are no surplus migrants, there are surplus fascists," while some attendees have accused the Mossos agents of "defending the Nazis."
The call of 'Save Europe Act' in Barcelona is part of a European campaign that promotes the defense of European ethnic identity through concentrations in different cities of the continent.
